Call for Art – Publication

JAS_LogoA well-respected American Jewish magazine is looking for visual art based on the themes of their next 3 print issues.

The works will be published in black & white.

The printed magazine will includea simulated Talmud page with text and responses, as well as a section called “Perspectives” (short essays). Each issue will focus on a theme. They will be highlighting art in the issue—with one piece for the cover. 

THEMES:

March: Deadline Feb. 1

LECH LECHA (THE CONCEPT, NOT THE PARSHA) – TAKE YOURSELF AND GO; THE NEXT STEP, FACE FEAR, AMBIGUITY & UNCERTAINTY

April: Deadline Feb. 15

SIMCHAH (JOY) –  QUESTIONS OF FINDING HAPPINESS IN A COMPLEX WORLD

May: Deadline March 1

SHEVIRAH – BROKENNESS – EMBRACING IMPERFECTION

Artists will be credited by name and title of the work.

SUBMISSION PROCESS to the Jewish Art Salon

To: jasexhibits@gmail.com

Email no more than 10 jpegs per issue, 300 dpi each. Save the jpegs with your first and last name, e.g. Jane_Schwartz_Title_of_Work.jpg

Subject line: Your name and the month you are applying for.

If you submit for more than 1 month, separate those emails by the month you are applying for.

Attach all images for one month in one email.

If there are many submissions, preference will be given to Members of the Jewish Art Salon.
