Job: Studio Arts Teacher (Full-Time) Boston

Gann Academy, a pluralistic Jewish school in Waltham, MA, is seeking a full time Studio Arts teacher to join the Arts Department for the 2017-2018 academic year.  Teaching responsibilities will include foundational and advanced courses in 2D disciplines, such as drawing and painting.  The ideal candidate will also possess skills in 3D media, such as pottery, sculpture, and 3D design.  Instruction will take place in Gann’s dedicated 2D and 3D studio facilities.  Other responsibilities will include supervising open studio, curating the gallery space, and collaborating with other members of the arts department to plan and implement events, exhibitions, and festivals.

Candidates should have a master’s degree in a related field and at least three years of experience teaching visual arts at the high school level.

Each art teacher at Gann is a professional artist in his or her respective discipline, committed to inspiring our students to self-actualize through expression in the arts.  We believe that the arts provide a unique framework for our students to develop essential skills for success in high school and beyond, including risk-taking, critical thinking, collaboration, and iteration. Our department’s guiding mission is aligned with that of the school:
“…to educate, to inspire, and to empower intellectually confident, passionately engaged, ethically responsible Jews who, through critical thinking and the contribution of their unique voices, will create a vibrant Jewish future and build a better world where human dignity will flourish.”
Gann is deeply invested in teacher development and reflective teaching practice, and offers competitive compensation and a collegial work environment.  We seek teachers who are committed to collaborating and growing in their teaching practice, supporting diverse learners in the classroom, and connecting with students outside the classroom, both formally and informally.
