
Joel Silverstein’s Tanach Series engages with the issues of visual art, personal experience, and the Hebrew Bible. Midrash (commentary) and autobiography illuminate the text, creating paintings that are distinctive for their representational narratives, vivid figurative expressionism, and direct evocative brushwork.
