Deborah Ugoretz creates work in cut paper that moves beyond traditional iconography to interpret Jewish and universal thought and texts. As a painter, she infuses her work with color as a metaphor for how the Holy One reveals itself to the world.
Ugoretz excepts commissioned works in cut paper, ketubot, stained glass and synagogue art. A master Papercuts artist, she teaches the art of Jewish Papercutting and manuscript Illumination. She curates arts exhibitions for Yiddish New York. She lives in Brooklyn, New York and maintains a studio in Red Hook, Brooklyn.
