Artist Membership Benefits

for Fellows, Associates and Emerging Artists

  1. Preferential treatment for our exhibitions and virtual presentations. We have curated 30 well-received exhibitions so far, and 40 art events and workshops. We host occasional Open Studios on Zoom. The presentations are by JAS members, but the sessions are open to the public. Although in exhibitions we sometimes invite guest artists, we primarily feature our member artists.
  2. Members are eligible for referrals to museums, curators and collectors, whenever we get a request for art that fits your work. Please note that we do not find museums or venues for artists to exhibit, unless a venue /curator asks us for specific types of work.

In addition to our own exhibitions, we have assisted with both NY-based and out-of-town / foreign artists’ work being exhibited at:

The Y.U. Museum, New York, NY; Jerusalem Biennale; Derfner Museum, Riverdale, NY;  Miami Art Week, Mizel Museum, Denver CO; The New Museum, NYC; Philadelphia Museum of Jewish Art; Ein Harod Museum, Israel; Reginald Lewis Museum, Baltimore MD; Stanback Museum, Synagogue for the Arts, NYC; the Educational Alliance, NYC; the Museum of Imajewnation, the Westchester JCC, Pratt Center’s Hadas Gallery, Brooklyn NY; BEKI, New Haven CT; the Center for Jewish Arts & Literacy, Blank Rome, Philadelphia; Vivant Art, Philadelphia; Industry City Gallery, Brooklyn, Sid Jacobson JCC, Peninsula JCC, Vancouver JCC & others.

3. We facilitated press exposure for many of our artists, both online and hard copy.

The New York Times, HaAretz, Bar-Ilan Journal of Jewish Art, Art Criticism, Moment Magazine, Sh’ma Journal, NY Jewish Week, The Forward, The Algemeiner, Jewish Press, Zeek, Lilith Magazine, CCAR Journal: The Reform Jewish Quarterly (Arts Issue), NJ Jewish Standard, Queens Journal of Jewish Studies, Jewish Currents, Jewish Exponent & more.

What we do NOT do:

A) We do not supply artists with contact sheets for exhibition venues, personal introductions to galleries and curators, or any other tailor-made info.

B) We also cannot help artists bringing their previous exhibit to NYC. Those type of services are beyond our immediate scope, the type of services that are not covered under our modest membership fee.

Artists interested in purchasing this type of info may contact us at jas@jewishartsalon.org
