Artist in Residence Position at the Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale

New Haven, Connecticut

November 1 – April 1

Award: $10,000, plus travel and reasonable and necessary expenses

The Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale seeks an artist for the center’s annual residency program. Slifka is seeking artists working in any medium who are invested in sustaining a vibrant and diverse world of Jewish art, in its many definitions, forms, and variations. Resident artists will investigate the selected theme through the creation of an original piece, collaborations with Yale students, and in a public facing exhibition at the Slifka Center. This second cycle of the residency will be focused on the central question, “How can you change the ways you matter in a world so vast and complex” As a Jewish institution, Slifka Center invites artists of all religious practices – and no religious practice.

The Slifka Center for Jewish Life at Yale nourishes and invigorates the bodies and souls of students, faculty members, and community members through popular and evolving forms of Jewish association. A multi-pronged exploration of the arts constitutes one of our most exciting and provocative sites of collaborative Jewish expression and creativity. This residency is still in its early stages – artists would be substantively involved in shaping the program itself.

More details about the residency along with the application form can be found on their website here https://slifkacenter.org/blanksteen-artist-in-residence-2023/
