Call for Art: Celebrations at the Heller Museum

CELEBRATIONS July 2024  to September 2025

1 West 4th Street, New York, NY

REQUEST FOR SUBMISSION

Phyllis Freedman, Curator:

“In a changing world fraught with worries, the Heller Museum hopes to focus on the many things in life that continue to bring us joy.  Our next multi-artist exhibit opening July 1924 will be called Celebrations and we invite you to join us with your work of art about the events and experiences that bring meaning and pleasure to our lives.

Some of the moments that bring joy may be family, college graduation, watching our children grow up, a child’s first steps, their bar and bat mitzvahs, graduations, weddings and the birth of grandchildren. Or it can be as simple as a ball game, a gathering of friends, a day at the beach or even a walk in the park spying the first blossoms of spring. Sometimes it may be literally a celebration of a birthday or an anniversary. Traditions from the Passover seder or 4th of July picnics and Thanksgiving turkey dinners are events we look forward to, that lift the human spirit even in uncertain times.

What are your own joyful moments?  We hope that you will share them with your art.

The exhibit will include all fine art media including photographs, preferably wall mounted, and  small sculptures”.

The Heller Museum is located in New York City’s Greenwich Village at the Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion.
