Call-For-Entries Water – םימ

water

The Windsor Jewish Community Centre, in Windsor, Ontario, Canada, is currently accepting submissions for Water – םימ.

Many spiritual traditions recognize the sacred nature of water as a life-giving source and a symbol of rebirth. Inspired by the transformative power of water in ךילשת “tashlikh” (meaning “casting off” in Hebrew), a Jewish water-based ritual of self-renewal and metamorphosis, Water – מים will feature artwork exploring the transformational qualities of water in connection with the body, identity, ritual, community and art.

The Art Exhibit will be part of a larger gala celebration, featuring the Windsor Symphony Orchestra performing excerpts from Handel’s Water Music, the HNM Dance Company performing water-evocative danceworks, and the Detroit River Clean-Up making presentations about our region’s water-based ecosystem.
