In order to graduate from Massachusetts College of Art, I needed one more course. I heard that calligraphy, taught by the Dean, John Cataldo was worthwhile and even though I had little interest, I signed up. He taught the formation of letters as a foundational tool for rhythm, discipline and text as art. Through this one course, I gained a lifelong interest in alphabets and the history of writing and source texts as cultural, identity and interfaith communication.
