The Harry G. Friedman Society is pleased to announce that the theme of the Dr. Alfred & Jean S. Moldovan Symposium this year is “Mark Podwal: Jewish Artist“. The Symposium will take place on Sunday, March 16th from 9:30am – 2:00pm at Temple Emanu-El, 1 East 65th St (at Fifth Avenue), NYC.

Jean Bloch Rosensaft, Director of the Heller Museum at Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion — “Mark Podwal’s Juxtapositions of Understanding“
Pavla Niklova, Director of the Jewish Museum in Prague, Czech Republic — “Mark’s Synagogue was in Prague“
Elisheva Carlebach, Salo Wittmayer Professor of Jewish History, Culture and Society at Columbia University — “On Jewish Magic in the Art of Mark Podwal“
Jan Robert Van Pelt, Professor of Architecture at the University of Waterloo in Ontario, Canada — “Mark Podwal and An Atlas of Jewish Space“
Fee: $30 per person ($10 students) for the entire program which, in addition to the above presentations, will include a light breakfast and a luncheon buffet. All refreshments will be strictly kosher.
