Born in Pittsburgh, and now a long time New Jersey resident with a studio of her own, Teela Banker is self- taught ceramic artist with a MA from NYU and with a BA from the University of Michigan in Ann Arbor where she first explored the possibilities of clay.
Fast forward, she has had a solo show and exhibited and sold her work in juried shows and museums, throughout the United States. Her inspiration comes from many sources and her work reflects her interest in nature, primitive cultures, science, politics as well as her own personal journey through life.
At the present, she is teaching ceramics to adults with special needs, as well as children and teens.
