As 2016 comes to an end, the Jewish Art Salon is grateful for the opportunities we had to further promote and advance contemporary Jewish visual art. Also, we are entering 2017 with an expanded team: several highly qualified people will join us in the next couple of months.

What did we do this year?
Dimensions of Spirituality was curated by Richard McBee and Aimee Rubensteen. This exchange / collaboration with the Jewish Artists Initiative took place in Los Angeles.
Passover and the Consequences of Freedom, curated by Richard McBee, was at the Brooklyn Jewish Art Gallery this Spring.
New York/New Work, created for the Jerusalem Biennale of Contemporary Jewish Art, was curated by Dvora Liss and David Sperber; it traveled to the Ein Harod Museum.
Our exhibit JOMIX-Jewish Comics traveled to Long Island.
We co-sponsored a NYC solo exhibit by Ruth Schreiber.
Symposium on Femininity and Masculinity in Jewish Art; at the Ein Harod Museum. Organized by Dvora Liss and David Sperber, during our exhibit New York / New Work.Passover Art Panel Discussion, moderated by Sasha Stern, in conjunction with our exhibit at the Brooklyn Jewish Art Gallery.

This year we were mentioned in Hadassah Magazine, and the NY Jewish Week. In his 630 page volumeTradition and Transformation: Three Millennia of Jewish Art and ArchitectureOri Z. Soltes wrote extensively about the Jewish Art Salon and its role in contemporary Jewish art.
– TEAM EXPANSION:
We are excited to introduce the first two of our additional team members.
Katarzyna Kozera is a multimedia artist, art director and photographer. She creates user-friendly multimedia for museums and exhibitions. She designed the multi-media part of the core exhibition at the POLIN Museum of the History of Polish Jews in Poland, as well as several other museums. She completed her MFA studies in Fine Arts in Krakow, Poland, and is working on her Ph.D dissertation and artist project “Society in The State of Danger”. More info about Katarzyna.
Faigie Roth, a graduate of Rutgers University with a Master’s degree in Art History, will take on various responsibilities, including maintaining an artist database as well as researching Jewish organizations for possible collaboration on future projects. Faigie looks forward to learning about the stimulating programs and the myriad of artists who are perpetuating a novel approach to Contemporary art through the exploration of Jewish iconography, philosophy and identity. Archie Rand: Sixty Paintings from the Bible (Cleveland: Galleries at CSU, 2016). Baskind wrote a 180 page catalog to go with the exhibit she curated, that includes all 60 paintings as full-page color plates.
