Archie Rand’s Landmark Letter Paintings Acquired by Italy’s Modena FC Collection

Jarvis Art announces the acquisition of forty-four Archie Rand “Letter Paintings” by the corporate collection of Modena FC in Italy.

Rand’s  “Letter Paintings” series, which references the names of American Jazz and Rhythm and Blues musicians, were created between 1968 and 1971. This seminal series is widely considered to be a departure from the values of Clement Greenberg, who at the time was an active supporter of Rand’s early color field work.
