CALL FOR ARTISTS: A GROUP EXHIBIT
The Bender JCC in Rockville, MD, USA, is currently accepting submissions for their upcoming group show entitled: Na’aseh v’nishma. (Please note: only two-dimensional work.) This is primarily for Washington, Maryland and Virginia based artists.
Subject Matter:
Submissions should be inspired by, react to or otherwise engage broadly with the concept of “Na’aseh v’nishma.,” which, translates to “We will do and [then] we will hear.” – Exodus 24:7
Background: The Biblical phrase na’aseh v’nishma is the Israelites response to receiving the 10 commandments at Mt Sinai. The phrase is an expression of complete faith. Artistic treatment of na’aseh v’nishma should be conceived of broadly. For example, the artist might choose to focus on themes of religious authority, (or lack thereof), the role and nature of faith, personal stance towards command.
Project Eligibility and Specifications:
- This opportunity is open to all artists based in the Greater Washington area.
- The artwork must be original and must reflect the quote above.
- The artwork must be 2 dimensional and able to hang on a wall.
Artwork will be evaluated by the Goldman Gallery Selection Committee according to the following parameters:
- Aesthetic/Conceptual Strength
- Connection to the prompt.
- Meets the Goldman Art Gallery’s standards of excellence.
All material must be submitted no later than NOVEMBER 1.
Selected participants will be notified by November 20.
The show will be on display from December 21 – February 19.
There will be an opening reception on Thursday, December 21, 5:30 pm – 7:30 pm
