Visiting Artist Program in Social Justice and Jewish Life, Toronto

The Anne Tanenbaum Centre for Jewish Studies at the University of Toronto is pleased to announce the Mitchell J. Gerstein Distinguished Visiting Artist in Residence for the 2025-26 academic year. This competitive program invites applications from active artists engaged in a broad range of creative interpretations of contemporary Jewish life. Eligible applicants include professionals working in the visual, musical, performing, and literary arts.

Residency Details 

• Duration: Minimum of three months (one semester) in Toronto 

• Stipend: $20,000 CAD 

• Project Budget: Up to $5,000 CAD (reimbursed against receipts) if necessary for project production 

• Teaching Opportunity: If the artist is invited to teach a course, additional compensation will be provided
