Jewish Art Salon invites you to the next live session of our successful online series, AFTER THE FLOOD: ReGENESIS.
In this session curated by Judith Joseph and Dorit Jordan Dotan, we will be joined by artists Joani Share, Yehudis Barmatz-Harris and Beth Herman Adler to explore the process of re-creation; exploring the deposits and richness of creativity that emerge from desolation and despair.
In addition to the curators, this program is produced with the support of Jewish Art Salon’s Program Advisor Yona Verwer and team members Cheselyn Amato and Chana Wiesenthal-Elias.

About the artists
Yehudis Barmatz-Harris works in new-media, assemblage, and installation and holds a BFA from Pratt, and a MART Leslie College. Yehudis is inspired by mysticism, while her methods are born out of American ecofeminist, process art movements. Her work focuses on the nexus of individual and community and embraces identity. Site-specific projects include her public work “Well of Living Waters,” built with local children; “Triple Thread,” a memorial; and “Person Place and Thing,” a pop-up exhibition in an abandoned school building. Yehudis had her first Solo exhibition in Beita Gallery, Jerusalem, with a grant from Pais in 2020. She has exhibited in Israel, the United States and Europe.

Joani Share is a mixed media artist and retired art educator having taught art in Scottsdale, AZ for more than twenty years. Intrigued by color, shape, and texture, she works in a wide range of media and utilizes numerous techniques and approaches from painting, printmaking, fabric art, and collage, to three-dimensional forms and freestanding sculptures. Joani has completed one-of-a kind works of art for individual and corporate client commissions and is included in collections in the United States and abroad. She currently lives and maintains a studio in Concord, California and organizes group exhibitions and art discussion gatherings in concert with various art organizations and her local synagogue.

Beth Herman Adler studied printmaking and graphic design at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago. She worked as a graphic designer for more than 25 years and brings design thinking to her creative process, working as an artist and printmaker in her studio in Evanston, Illinois. In March, Beth had an exhibit in Gallery 901 in Evanston. Called “My Covid Year”, it included her Covid Diary (a 12-foot-long accordion book of collages completed in the early days of the pandemic) as well as her Covid Houses (house-shaped sculptures made from her monoprints). Each month Beth made a different “house”, memorializing the pandemic casualties. Beth’s current show, Shape Shift at Oliva Gallery in Chicago, includes recent work created as we emerged from the darkness of the pandemic.
