Elkana Levy (1993) born in Israel, lives in Jerusalem and creates in the studio at the Artists’ Studio, Jerusalem.
He graduated from the Pardes School of Art (2021) and with high honors. During his studies he participated in student exchanges and studied at the Academy of Art in Amsterdam (2020). Master’s student in art therapy at the David Yelin College (2024)
Levi is in the process of searching for faith in G-d, a search that is reflected in his works that trace spirituality.
In a parallel way, in his realistic and figurative paintings, Levy tries to give expression to the difficult experiences that are etched in his mind. Whether it’s in the war experiences in the reserves or as a medic in the Rescue Union.
“The environment sees me as a religious guy with a kippah, but the truth is that I’m not there. I want to be but I can’t. I want to believe in G-d and meanwhile it’s not happening.
And so it turns out that my life so far amounts to a continuous search, a search driven by fear of materialism – a meaningless life, in my eyes, and an empty and endless death.
The search also led me to make art, a useful tool that helps in the search for G-d. And in addition, a faithful tool that helps point out the discoveries of my life along the way.”
Levy presented a solo exhibition at the Tapuz Gallery (2022) and participated in group exhibitions including the Jerusalem Court of Peace (2019), the Midrash Gallery (2019), the Jerusalem Bienniale (2021), the Factory Gallery (2022, residency-2024), the “Fresh Color” artists’ incubator ” (2023), Gaola Gallery (2023), Hirayeh Educational Center Gallery (2024), Tirosh Auction House (2024).
His paintings are in the Phoenix collection and in many private collections.
