About the artists

Susan Schwalb is one of the foremost figures in the revival of the ancient technique of silverpoint drawing in America.
Her work is represented in most of the major public collections, including the Museum of Modern Art, New York, The Metropolitan Museum of Art, New York, the National Gallery, Washington DC, The British Museum, London, The Brooklyn Museum, NY, Kupferstichkabinett – Staatliche Museen zu Berlin, Germany, Victoria and Albert Museum, London, and The Ashmolean Museum, Oxford, England.

Cynthia Beth Rubin is a Jewish Techspressionist artist who transitioned to digital imaging in the early 1980s. Through interwoven layers of representation and abstraction, her work explores unseen aspects of our world, evoking imagined narratives combining microscopic plankton imagery with various cultural sources. Rubin has exhibited internationally at museums, festivals, and symposia across all continents. Honors include multiple Connecticut Artist Fellowships, a New England Foundation for the Arts award, Memorial Foundation for Jewish Culture, and artist residencies in the USA, France, Scotland, Canada and Israel. She recently facilitated and participated in the Techspressionist exhibition at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Urgench, Uzbekistan, and in 2009 organized the Cultural Heritage exhibition for the Orchard Street Shul in New Haven. Her work has been published in books and journals in over 10 languages, and her most recent viewing of work was on big screens in Shanghai.
