JADA Art Fair at Miami Art Week

The Jewish Art Salon is proudly participating in Miami Art Week’s JADA Art Fair & Artist-in-Residence Program. Organized by our member Jonatas Chimen and by Dana Blickensderfer, this program has two components:

Art residency, Dec. 1-5, 2019.

Art exhibition with programming, Dec. 6-8, 2019.

The exhibition focuses on Judaism and immigration, exile, the Sephardic experience, the Jewish Diaspora, the Spanish Inquisition, Redemption, and the return home.

This exhibit is sponsored by FeSeLa (1), the Sephardic Congregation of Florida, The Tribe, and the Jewish Art Salon. It features six Jewish Art Salon members: Jonatas Chimen, Katarzyna Kozera, Yitzchok Moully, Joel Silverstein, Carve Stone, and Yona Verwer, and a dozen guest artists.

Art in the 21st Century has largely shunned narrative-based artwork, claiming it as passé and obsolete. While “art for art’s sake” is a valid argument, narrative-based art for the sake of remembrance and teaching, and for reflection and inspiration, should also be celebrated. Thus, this initiative boldly recognizes the invaluable role of Jewish folklore, history, allegory, and even of religion, in the process of making and experiencing contemporary art.

Venue: 1250 Normandy Drive, Miami Beach, FL 33141

For 8 years, he became the #1 Jewish Rapper in Korea Town, landing collaborations with everyone from Matisyahu to Rza of Wu Tang Clan and cyphers with acts like ASAP Rocky. Always a man of randomness, his renegade street performances have landed him press coverage in LA Weekly to Grammy.com while Variety Magazine called him one of the top acts of SXSW 2019. After playing the Mojave stage at Coachella this last year with Subsuelo Crew post Kanye West’s infamous Easter Sunday Service wasn’t the biggest thing that happened for him at Coachella. Dillz managed to create Matzahchella; Coachella’s unofficial passover seder. He is schedule to play SXSW 2020 and curates an event called OY VEY SXSW, the festivals only jewish themed showcase where he invites Israeli bands and international Rap groups to play together.

Grit Daily Live! Miami Art Summit, hosted by JADA, brings epic, live journalism in an immersive art space in Miami. VIP breakfast, speaker’s dinner, and Miami’s hottest after party. We will be delving into a wide-ranging, diverse, and at times controversial set of ideas and questions.

Registration + Champagne. Hosted by JADA at North Beach Miami, Grit Daily ups Miami’s content game, asking the real questions around expression, identity, and the gritty side of art and business.

Grit Daily Live! unpacks the core of art in the 21st century — both with industry creators and journalists who study the field. Grit Daily’s team — formerly CNN, Forbes, The Wall Street Journal, Fast Company, Vice, Verge, and Vox — will analyze art, brands, interactions and the top artists to explain it.
