Judith Appleton received her art education in New York at the School of Visual Arts, and frequent visits to the Museum of Modern Art. She moved to Israel in 1978. She earned a BFA at the Bezalel Academy of Art and Design, Jerusalem after picking oranges for four years and attending the Kibbutz Artists Workshop.
Appleton’s major interests are drawing the human figure and painting landscapes. She is a member of the Jerusalem Artists House. Her 2014-15 exhibit, White Desert, originated in an artist’s residency in Greenland, which generated a continuing series of paintings of the desert landscape in Israel.
Solo exhibits include Artist’s Wall (by invitation), 2012, Jerusalem Artists’ Studios, and Continuous Portrait, Artists House Jerusalem, 2000. Group exhibits include Expressions, AACI, Jerusalem and Drawing Connections at the Siena Art Institute.
