Judith Joseph‘s dual solo exhibits, entitled Soaring Spirit, open April 1 at the University of Milwaukee Golda Meir Library and Hillel-Milwaukee.
At the library, Joseph is showing ten woodblock prints. At the Hillel, she has 30 examples of her ketubah art on display.
On April 25, she will present an artist’s talk at the UWM Golda Meir Library at 6:30 p.m. This will be preceded by an open house at the Hillel exhibition from 5:00- 6:00 p.m. Hillel Milwaukee is located at 3053 Stowell Ave. The UWM Library is just one block away, at 2311 E. Hartford Ave., on the UWM campus.
The exhibits run through Aug. 31, 2017.
Judith Joseph’s art expresses spiritual flight. She uses the natural world as a metaphor for moral and personal struggle and growth. At the UWM Library, she exhibits a series of woodblock prints depicting owls, ravens and other birds, which she thinks of as spiritual self-portraits. The Hillel-Milwaukee exhibit presents a comprehensive survey of Joseph’s work as a ketubah artist, and includes original paintings, digital prints of hand-lettered custom works and selections from her digital print portfolio.
