Leah Raab was born in Trenton, New Jersey and began her art studies at the University of New Hampshire. She received her BFA from the Bezalel Academy of Art in Jerusalem and completed her MFA at the New York Studio School.
Leah has exhibited her work in the United States, Canada, Europe and in Israel.

She is represented by Prince Street Gallery in Manhattan and Rosenbach Gallery in Jerusalem.
Leah’s work explores her attachment to places, connections to people and to community. Scenes in Israel and New York City depict places that hold deep significance to her. Her ongoing preoccupation on the experience of moving back and forth poses the question: to which world does she belong?

In Leah’s words, “My work addresses universal themes of exile, immigration, displacement, resettlement and belonging. On a personal level, it is about longing for homes I no longer inhabit, memories of people far away, landscapes, neighborhoods and communities in distant countries that I no longer belong to. Each transition to a new place brings uncertainty and as I search for a sense of belonging in each new environment, I compare and contrast my surroundings with the places I left behind. Images represent my family’s wanderings in Europe, immigrating to America, then to Israel, and continuously moving back and forth between the different cultures of my homelands”.

Leah now lives and paints in Raanana, Israel.
