March 8, 2019 – Walking Tour of Jewish Amsterdam
Exclusive for members of the Jewish Art Salon, artists participating in the Spinoza exhibition, and their guests.
Join the Jewish Art Salon and Prof. Ori Z. Soltes (Georgetown University) for a walking tour of Jewish Amsterdam. Walk the streets that Spinoza wandered and from which Anne Frank eventually hid. Learn when and where the Jewish community developed in this “Venice of the North” and what visible elements resonate with its rich and often complex history.
Friday, March 8th, 10:30a.m. Tour will last 1.5 – 2 hours.

Spinoza Walking Tours, Dates TBA
Several walking tours by Billha Zussman: a Spinoza tour combined with `reflections of the artists on Spinoza” at the Jewish Art Salon’s exhibition. Billha is an experienced cultural tour guide with the Jewish Historical Museum.
Admission free with a ticket to the Spinoza Museum and the Sephardic Synagogue. Entrance fees total $22, and also allows admission to the Jewish Historical Museum, Hollandsche Schouwburg and the Nieuw Holocaust Museum in Amsterdam.
Duration of the Spinoza´s tours: between 1.30 and 3 hours.
- Starting at the `Plein van Siena`for a short introduction about Spinoza´s life and ideas.
- A short introduction about the artworks displayed at the `Plein`.
- A visit to the former Jewish quarter, the Portuguese Synagogue and the Spinoza monument.
- Visit to the Amstelkerk, a short tour and introduction of the artworks.
- Bet Haim, Portuguese cemetery in Ouderkerk aan de Amstel, (suburb of Amsterdam)
- Spinoza house Rijnsburg, where Spinoza lived from 1661 /1663, which is now a museum.
