In 2016 the Brooklyn Jewish Art Gallery’s inaugural exhibition PASSOVER AND THE CONSEQUENCES OF FREEDOM was conceived and curated by Richard McBee, and co-organized by the Jewish Art Salon.
The art investigated some of the most important themes of Passover and its narrative conclusion, Shavuot. The exhibition establishes the vibrancy of contemporary Jewish Art as a primary means of connecting Jewish thought with contemporary Jewish visual culture.

The holiday of Pesach, or Passover, falls on the Hebrew calendar dates of Nissan 15-22. In 2018 this starts sundown on Friday, March 30, and ends at nightfall on Shabbat, April 7.
Passover / Pesach celebrates the Jewish people’s liberation by God from slavery in ancient Egypt and their freedom as a nation under the leadership of Moses. It commemorates the story of the Exodus as described in the Torah, especially in the Book of Exodus, at about 1300 BCE.
