Mark Podwal at the Terezin Museum

Mark Podwal’s latest exhibition Kaddish for Dąbrowa Białostocka is on view at the Terezin Ghetto Museum until August 31, 2021.

Mark Podwal characterizes the exhibition as a pictorial diary from his trip to Dabrowa, Poland, his mother’s birthplace. The exhibition creates colorful and unexpected views of a vanished world, connects Jewish religious iconography and ritual objects with images from Yiddish folk culture and Polish traditions. According to Nobel Prize winner Elie Wiesel, Mark Podwal captures here with his paintings what “death forgot to take away”.
